How to Connect ChatGPT to WhatsApp and Set Up Your AI Agent Without Leaving the Chat

ChatGPT doesn't write to your customers on WhatsApp. What it can do, once connected to Ciarem, is set up the AI agent that answers them, test its replies before a customer sees them and tell you what's happening in your inbox.

The quick answer: Ciarem AI is listed in ChatGPT's directory. You install it, create an account if you don't have one, and ChatGPT asks a few questions about your business, sets up your AI agent, reads your website and shows you sample replies. For the AI to start answering, you connect WhatsApp or Instagram in Ciarem, because that step needs your Meta login.

How to connect ChatGPT to Ciarem

1. Open Ciarem AI in the ChatGPT directory, or in ChatGPT go to Settings > Apps & Connectors and search for "Ciarem".
2. Install the app and sign in to Ciarem. If you don't have an account, you create it there and your free trial starts. If you belong to several workspaces, choose one.
3. In a conversation, select Ciarem from the tools menu and ask your question.

On Business and Enterprise plans, your ChatGPT admin may have to allow the app first.

Start from scratch in ChatGPT

Select Ciarem and write "Set up an AI agent for my business". You answer a few questions and ChatGPT does the rest:

1. It asks about your business and what the AI should help with, such as selling, answering questions or scheduling.
2. It sets up your AI agent and reads your website. Reading it takes a few minutes.
3. It shows you sample replies so you can correct what's off.
4. It gives you the links to connect your channels in Ciarem. Once a channel is connected, the AI answers your real customers.

Change and test your agent

If you're an admin, you can change the tone, business context, corrections, the knowledge each agent uses and the transfer rules from the conversation. ChatGPT asks you to approve every change. To test, write something like "Show me how my AI agent would answer a customer asking for prices": you see the reply, which agent and knowledge it used, and whether a transfer rule fired, without sending anything to anyone.

Check your inbox, contacts and results

Your inbox. Find open, unassigned or your own conversations, search for a chat by name or by what was said, and read a full conversation with your team's internal notes. For example: "Which conversations assigned to me are waiting for a reply?"

Your contacts. Look up a customer by name, phone or email, and see their details, funnel stage and recent conversations. For example: "Prep me for my call with Laura Gómez."

Your knowledge base. Search what your agent answers from and trace which document or page made it say something. For example: "What does our knowledge base say about refunds?"

Your AI agent and team. If you're an admin, you can also see why the AI answered or transferred a chat, how much it handled, which questions it couldn't answer and how your team did. For example: "How did my team and the AI agent do this week?"

Common questions

Does ChatGPT answer my customers on WhatsApp? No. The Ciarem AI agent and your team answer them, from the Ciarem inbox. ChatGPT doesn't send messages to your customers or edit contacts.

What do I still do in Ciarem? Connecting channels. That step needs your Meta login, or your website for web chat. For anything the app can't change, ChatGPT takes you to the right screen in Ciarem.

Who sees what? Each person connects with their own Ciarem login. Agents only see their own contacts and conversations, and the AI, team and account views are for admins. What you ask, and the data ChatGPT reads, goes to OpenAI under its terms, so connect it only if your company allows that for customer data.
