WhatsApp Business calling

Answer WhatsApp Business calls as a team, from the browser

Customers tap the call button in your chat and it rings in the Ciarem Inbox. Whoever answers first takes it, and the call stays in the conversation with its recording, transcript and AI summary.

Why WhatsApp calls get lost today

  1. Customers call your WhatsApp and nobody picks up, because the phone is with someone else.

    1. Calls ring in the browser: an unassigned conversation rings for the whole team, an assigned one only for its owner.

  2. After a call, nobody remembers what was agreed.

    2. With transcription on, an AI summary sits under the call in the chat, with the recording and transcript one click away.

  3. A missed call just disappears.

    3. Voicemail takes it and drops the message into the chat as a voice note you can transcribe.

Calls ring where your team already works

When a customer calls, a call panel appears in the corner of the dashboard on any page, with a browser notification if you allow them. The first teammate to answer takes the call, and answering an unassigned conversation assigns it to you. Minimize the panel and keep working the Inbox while you talk.

  • Answer, Decline (sends the caller to voicemail if it's on) or Dismiss just for you
  • Mute microphone, Mute caller and a shortcut to the contact's profile
  • Your browser asks for microphone access once

Every call becomes part of the conversation

Each call shows up in the thread as a card: incoming, outgoing, missed or declined, with its duration. Details opens the recording, a transcript labeled You and Customer, and the summary; click a transcript line to jump the player there. Recording and transcript arrive a minute or two after you hang up.

  • WhatsApp reads a short recording notice to both sides first, in Spanish, English or Portuguese
  • You write the purpose customers hear, like "quality and customer service"
  • Turn recording and transcription off and nothing is captured

Call customers back, with their permission

The Call button in the chat header turns on once the customer allows calls, for 7 days or always. You get permission with an Ask to call message, with the Ask to call back prompt when they call you, or with a Call on WhatsApp button in a template. WhatsApp allows one request per 24 hours and two per 7 days per person.

  • Up to 5 connected calls per person every 24 hours, and 100 a day per line
  • Lines based in the US, Canada, Egypt, Vietnam or Nigeria can receive calls but not place them
  • The contact panel shows until when calls are allowed

Calls at Meta's price

Calls customers make to you are free, whatever the length. Calls you place are billed by Meta per second, in six-second steps, at a per-minute rate set by the customer's country, and come out of your WhatsApp wallet with no markup. If the wallet can't cover a call, Ciarem won't dial out, but incoming calls keep ringing.

Calls start ringing in the browser. WhatsApp can take up to 7 days to show the call button on customers' phones.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Calls ring in the Ciarem Inbox in your browser. Allow microphone access the first time; reloading the page or closing the tab ends the call.

No. Calls to a Coexistence number keep ringing in the WhatsApp Business app on your phone. Calling through Ciarem needs a dedicated API line.

Incoming calls are free. Calls you place are billed by Meta per second at a per-minute rate that depends on the customer's country, around one US cent per minute in most of Latin America, from your WhatsApp wallet with no markup.

Only customers who have allowed calls, for 7 days or permanently. Receiving calls needs no permission. After four unanswered outbound calls in a row, WhatsApp revokes the permission.

Only if you turn on Record calls. WhatsApp reads a short notice to both sides before recording starts. Missed and declined calls have no recording.

Turn on Take a voicemail. The caller hears your greeting and leaves a message that arrives in the chat as a voice note. Answering or using voicemail also matters because WhatsApp hides the call button on lines that keep ringing out.
